E 1.1.8 WHAT IS NOT REPENTANCE

1a. BEING TORMENTED BY FEELINGS OF GUILT IS NOT REPENTANCE

2a. BEING RELIGIOUS ALONE IS NOT REPENTANCE Matt.23; Isa.64:6; Isa.29:13

2b. …. HAVING A FORM OF GODLINESS BUT DENYING ITS POWER (and from such people turn away!) IS NOT REPENTANCE 2 Tim. 3:5

2c. FOLLOWING TRADITIONS IS NOT REPENTANCE:

3.SEEKING DELIVERANCE FROM PROBLEMS ALONE IS NOT REPENTANCE :

And one of them, when he saw that he was healed, returned, … and fell down on his face at His feet, giving Him thanks. … Luke 17:15,16

4.DOING PENANCE ALONE IS NOT REPENTANCE

THEN, WHAT IS REPENTANCE ?

DEPENDING ON SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL NOT LEAD US TO SALVATION.

DEPEND FIRST ON GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS AND MAKE A DECISION TO WALK IN THE LIGHT. THIS DECISION FOLLOWED BY SINCERE, WHOLE-HEARTED EFFORTS TO WALK IN THE LIGHT BY THE GRACE OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, WITH THE PROVISIONS GOD HAS MADE FOR US THROUGH HIS WORD, IS THE RIGHT ATTITUDE OF A REPENTANT HEART.
